On the 4th day of Tech-mas...+ GIVEAWAY Reminder!

On the 4th day of Tech-mas, EdTechs on me bestowed, student activities for the Hour of Code!

Hour of Code is almost here! This grassroots program aims to give every child in the world a brief introduction to the exciting world of computer science. Over 400 companies and organizations have joined forces to make Hour of Code simple, easy, and fun to use in virtually every classroom. Last year the program passed a significant milestone with over 100 million students participating around the world. The Grinch: Saving Christmas with Code is one fun holiday activity you can have your students complete during Hour of Code.

This year, one of the hottest Hour of Code lessons is Dance Party, which allows students to program robots, unicorns, and other characters to dance to their favorite songs. Like most modules, Dance Party is fun, creative, and easy to learn. One of our EdTechs (can you guess who?) was born with two left feet and knows absolutely nothing about dancing--but even he thinks this is a great learning activity for virtually any grade level. So, even if you don't know much about computers or coding, don't sweat it! Easy-to-follow tutorials are provided every step of the way.

The 'Hour of Code™' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.

Many classrooms and schools plan Hour of Code activities for Computer Science Education Week (which falls December 9 - 13 this year); however, these lessons are freely available throughout the year. To make it easier for Ceres students to participate, we will be providing quick links to some of the most popular Hour of Code lessons on all students' Clever portals throughout the week.

We'd love to hear how you're incorporating coding and computer science into your classroom learning. Don't be shy! Leave a comment below, or contact your EdTech if you have questions.

***GIVEAWAY reminder! Everyone who signs up gets a free tech swag bag! Check out this post for more information. Giveaway ends tomorrow Friday, December 6th!
